Linksys WUSB6300 AC1200 Won’t Connect After Windows Update

Issue – Microsoft driver updates. After Windows Update your computer can’t connect to WiFI. No matter what you try –  your existing connection that was working before the reboot for Windows update is dead. You can try to forget the network and re-add it, try resetting the network adapter, Windows troubleshooter, rebooting… all of them end in a WiFi connection error because Windows Update replaced the functioning Linksys network driver with a RealTek driver that will not work.

Solution – Get that Microsoft @$%& outta here! and revert back to the functioning driver.

  1. Download the LinkSys WUSB6300 driver
  2. Go to your network driver properties in device manager
  3. Click Update Driver
  4. Widows 7 – Choose Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  5. Locate File > navigate to your WUSB6300 driver download
  6. Select netrtwlanu.inf
  7. Click Open
  8. Select Network Driver Linksys WUSB6300
  9. Click Next
  10. WiFi!
