Thanks mucho for this import information.

Microsoft obviously thinks their customers don't know what's going on. So they automatically make changes to our computers gaurentee-ing that we don't know what's going on.

Can't understand what a directory is? We'll invent folders which are sometimes directories but sometimes system generated and sometimes in the cloud. Cuz this will be simpler.

Don't know where your files are? We'll stop showing you the full path so you really never learn that in the first place.

Extensions confuse you? We'll hide those and show you only part of your filename.

OH. You wrote this as if there was a dropdown option to put a check mark next to, labeled Sleep = no Start Screen on Wake".

You're actually saying that, if you don't use the Start menu to put the computer to sleep, there will be no start menu when it wakes up.

ARRRGH. I'm glad I puzzled that out, but it could have been clearer. You could have said WHY this works instead of just listing the steps.

Hi Glyn, the combined file should download to your web browsers standard download location - most often the Downloads folder where you've checked.

To check Downloads for Google Chrome you can click the three dots by your profile/name at the top right. Or press Ctrl+J on a computer. This will show your download history. If not found, try again perhaps the download was canceled or interrupted.

Examples for Google Chrome: https://bestim.org/where-to-find-chrome-downloads.html

Excellent! THANK YOU!!
went through each step in sequence and solution #3 worked for my son's Lenovo T470 :-)
From tears and upset thinking he'd lost everything to a big hug and a happy 11yr old again :-)
Just remember there are 2 x internal batteries to remove as well as the external ;-)
30 seconds holding the power button once all batteries removed and hey presto, it came back to life. Just had to reset the date and time on start-up and all seems to be working fine again.

Solution #3 – Fully Drain All Power (internal batteries)
Completely drain all power from the laptop – some disassembly required.

- Unplug power
- Remove bottom cover (search Youtube for a removal guide for your model) -
be careful, I broke 2 small plastic retaining pins towards the back lip where the external battery was. But case clipped back on fine, thankfully
- Remove both removable (external) and both internal Batteries (coin and large flat one)
-Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds (this was sufficient)
- Replace batteries, return bottom cover (it clicks back in then screw down)
- Plug in and Power on (fingers crossed ;-)
